The National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE) is an autonomous R&D institution that serves as the technical focal point for wind energy development in India, offering services in research, testing, certification, resource assessment, and skill development. It supports both onshore and offshore wind energy initiatives and plays a key role in implementing the National Offshore Wind Energy Policy. NIWE also operates the Wind Turbine Test Station (WTTS) at Kayathar and collaborates with international agencies like DANIDA. Through its divisions, NIWE promotes sustainable energy practices and provides technical support to developers, policymakers, and stakeholders across the wind energy sector.
